Scars on nearly any place on the body can be removed by laser treatment. Larger or more severe scarring may take a while, but small scars should take just fifteen or twenty minutes. You may need more sessions to remove a large scar then a smaller one. There are three main types of scars; laser scar treatment can effectively treat all three:
Keloid scars are reddish purple. They are firm and raised and may extend beyond the initial wound area or grow larger with time.
A hypertrophic scar is also a raised one, but does not spread like a keloid scar. It retains the size it was at the time of healing, and might even become smaller later.
Atrophic scars are not raised. They are depressed areas in the skin, usually the result of skin conditions or acne.
